The most important thing…

The family is one of nature’s masterpieces. -George Santayana

I couldn’t agree more!

I think living so far away from my own family has made me realize how important those relationships really are.  This family really understands that and you can really see it in the way they interact.

My own little family has been going through lots of changes this past year.  (I really can’t believe it’s been a year!)  It seems that we have finally hit our stride.  Figured out our own schedules and routines.  Learning what really matters, and maximizing the time we have together, however long that may be.  Families like the masterpiece pictured above, have been a true inspiration to me.

Real Quick…

Seems like the last couple of weeks, all I’ve been saying is “Real Quick!”  Trying to hang on to the last week of summer.  Getting a few family things taken care of.  Getting school supplies and clothes ready for the new school year.  Trying to do all of that and the normal everyday things REAL QUICK!

But, just wanted to show you this little beauty real quick before I call it a day!

Such a fun session!  Can’t wait to show you more!

Caitlyn | Senior 2011 Ramstein High School

I thought it would be super fun to share Caitlyn’s DVD slideshow on the blog.  Mainly, because I had so many favorites that I couldn’t choose!

I’ve been meaning to…

I’ve been meaning to take get a new family portrait….

Ever said that?  Yeah, me too.  ABOUT A MILLION TIMES!

But there is always the:

When I loose 10 pounds

When the weather warms up/cools down

When I find that perfect outfit

I just need my hair/his hair/their hair to grow out/get it cut

When the time is right

I could seriously list excuses all day long.  And I’m talking to myself here too!

See I’m not good IN FRONT of the camera.  I’m way more comfortable BEHIND it.

My Mom has used the excuse, “I’m just not photogenic” for years.   (I LOVE YOU MOM!)  But here’s the problem with that…I have no pictures of her.   And she has none of me either.

The truth of the matter is this:  The perfect time is now.  Just like you are.  With holes in your jeans, and your hair all messy and needing a dye job.  These are really the things that you are gonna want to remember.  The REAL stuff.

I have been ready a sweet little lady’s blog for years now.  I started reading it because I loved how she talked about her children, and things she did with them, and was raising them.  She is an awesome example for me.  She had an awesome family session by a photographer that I totally admired and the pictures were just breathtaking!  Then something crazy happened.  She was in a plane crash and over 80% of her body was burned.  She was in a coma for months and it really looked like she wasn’t going to make it.  She did, and she came out scarred.  I read her blog now for the same reasons that I read it before, but now with even more adoration,  because the struggles that she had to endure , just to cook dinner, are more than I can imagine.  But she has those family photos, and sometimes posts photos of herself  before, and she cherishes them.

Cause the truth is we don’t know what tomorrow will bring.  We are not invincible.  Tomorrow is not a guarantee.

So it’s time to step out of the comfort zone.  Time to get in front of the camera.

If I can do it…so can you.
