Organize

When I was growing up and my room was a huge mess, my mom would always try and guilt me into cleaning it by saying “Cleanliness is next to Godliness.”
I think of that every time I clean house and I laugh.  I tried it once with my little man and I’m pretty sure he rolled his eyes.  I have a feeling I rolled my eyes more than once when Mom said that to me too.  I also remember “cleaning” my room, announcing to mom that it was clean, and her coming in and taking everything I shoved under the bed into the middle of the room and saying “TRY AGAIN!”
Organization just isn’t my strong suit.  It’s just never been a priority.  I’m not saying that I live in a giant mess, it’s just always been a little known fact that my house is clean just don’t open a drawer or closet door!
So this year when it came time to pick My One Word, “Organize” came to mind, but I quickly pushed it aside.  It didn’t seem like it was a grand enough word, cause I mean really, everyone thinks about organization and getting your life in order when the new year rolls around.  I thought about it a couple of weeks and decided that I wasn’t going to use just a word, I was going to use this bible verse:
Philippians 4:8 ”Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
Here’s the problem with that, “I” decided it.  I declared it and thought since it was a bible verse it was awesome, right?!  Look how beautiful that verse is!
I sat down in my prayer time, to meditate and pray with my verse, and it just wasn’t right.  I seriously got a little ill.  After a little arguing with God, He reminded me that “I” might have picked that verse, but He has something else in mind for my 2011.  Over and over, “Organize” has come up.  So “Organize” it is, and it feels good.  (Peace, no sick stomach!)

I plan on spending the next year Organizing my Body with fitness and diet.  Organizing my Home by sticking to my cleaning schedule, meal plans, and de-cluttering all those corners.  Organizing my work day with better time management.  Organizing my thoughts by spending more time in the Word and prayer.

I ran across a great resource if you are considering a Word for the year.  It’s www.myoneword.org.  Lots of inspiration on the site as well as helpful advice on picking a word and also ways to foster that word throughout the year.

Here’s to 2011!  What kind of person to you want to be at the end of 2011?  I would love to hear your word if you choose one.

Jordan | KMC Senior Portraits

This is Jordan, and she is one of the Senior Reps for 2011.  I had such and awesome time photographing her!  She also has an interest in Photography so I brought along a few vintage cameras.  Then we put a vintage flare on a few of the shots and I loved the way they turned out!

On a business note:   If you haven’t scheduled your Sr Portraits, now is the time.  I only have a few sessions left for spring!  I’m also looking for my 2012 Senior Reps, and if you have someone you would like to nominate please send me a note!

Strength | KMC Portrait Photographer

I could give you the dictionary definition of STRENGTH, or I could just show you.

I could also give you about 100 different adjectives to describe this sweet little couple like:  brave, resilient, loving, sweet, etc..
They have been through a tremendous amount of obstacles in the short time they have been married, and they have come through it all.  Sure, they are a little scarred but they have learned to lean on each other.  They have become not only an example to me but to many others that know them.
D & C might not know it, but all that strength they possess, radiates out from them and you end up being a little stronger yourself.

Libby | Senior Portrait Photographer

I’m totally going to date myself here, and if you can do the math you will realize that I’m not really 29 yrs old (just in case there was any doubt! HA!)    I’ve known Libby her whole life.  In fact, her Momma was pregnant at my wedding and just didn’t know it yet.  I saw her tiny baby pictures and I’m sure I played patty cake with her once or twice.   I’ve seen her grown from that little freckled face kid into a beautiful young lady.  A beautiful young lady that will be graduating from high school.

It’s a little scary how time can fly by like that sometimes.

Any-who… I didn’t work much while I was in Texas, cause I was busy soaking up every second that I could spend with my Momma, but I did grab these shots of Libby in honor of her Sr. year.

The jet lag nearly got me down this time, people.  Two weeks!  But I’ve gone two whole days without a nap so I think I got it kicked!  Bring on 2011!

From there to here | KMC Portrait Photographer

Remember this little guy?
He was such a tiny little thing!  I just loved their kitchen shrunk (still do!) and at the end of the session asked if I could do something a little crazy!  This turned out to be my favorite image, and it’s on the main site still!
Well, that was FOUR years ago.  Since that time, lots of changes have happened to this little family and they, like most of us, moved to another base.  So when I got the e-mail that they would be in the area and wanted a family session, I jumped up and did a little happy dance!
I couldn’t wait!
Little Mr. E, is a joy!  Such a funny little guy and has each one of them wrapped around his cute little fingers.  Before the shoot was over, he had me wrapped too!
It’s so fun to meet up with past clients and see how they are growing and changing.  The ten year old, became a teenager.  The Freshmen in collage, became an even more beautiful young lady making her own way.  The Mom and Dad, so cute, still as much in love as they were, and very proud of their kids and all the great things they are doing.
It really is a privilege to meet families like this!  Thanks B family, for such a great shoot!
